Four trucks and a private car were burnt after an oil tanker overturned on the road of Hemayetpur in Savar, Dhaka. In this, one person died and three suffered burn injuries.
The accident took place in Hemayetpur on Tuesday (April 2) morning.
On receiving information, three units of fire service went to the spot and extinguished the fire.
According to local sources, an oil lorry overturned and caught fire in Jorpul area around 6:30 am. At that time, four trucks and a private car were burnt nearby. After receiving the information, the fire service rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control.
One person named Iqbal died in this incident. His home is in Chowagacha upazila of Jashore. He worked in cement trucks. At least seven people were burnt. They were rescued and sent to the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in the capital for admission. Their names are not known.
Md. Babul, the in-charge of Savar Highway police station confirmed the truth of the incident and said that in the morning, four trucks and a private car were burnt when an oil lorry overturned and caught fire in the Jorpul area of Hemayetpur. One person was killed. Traffic on the Dhaka-Aricha highway was stopped after this incident. Police are working to restore traffic flow.
