Former Khulshi OC Abdur Rahim transferred to Khulna days after Ctg mayor’s criticism Abdur Rahim

Staff Correspondent, Chattogram:

Mohammad Abdur Rahim, former officer-in-charge of Khulshi Police Station in Chattogram, has been transferred from Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) to the Police Training Centre in Khulna.
He was previously removed from the police station and transferred to the city's Special Branch following criticism from Chattogram City Corporation Mayor Shahadat Hossain.
The latest transfer order was issued by Police Headquarters on October 8. However, the matter came to light today after the transfer documents reached CMP headquarters. The Daily Star obtained a copy of the order.
The order, signed by AKM Awlad Hossain, additional inspector general of police at the Administration Branch of Police Headquarters, says that Mohammad Abdur Rahim had been transferred to the Khulna Police Training Centre in the public interest. According to the order, he was required to obtain his release order from CMP by October 10. Otherwise, he would be considered stand-released from October 11.
Abdur Rahim’s transfer comes amid reports of tension between Chattogram Mayor Shahadat and the city police over the arrest of Wakil Hossain, alias Boga, a listed criminal and juvenile gang leader who is also an expelled Swechchasebak Dal leader.
Last Tuesday, the mayor reportedly criticised the police over Wakil Hossain’s arrest. The following day, Mayor Shahadat sharply criticised then-Khulshi Police Station OC Abdur Rahim, describing Wakil Hossain as a “July warrior”. A few hours later, Abdur Rahim was removed from Khulshi Police Station and transferred to the Special Branch.
According to police, Wakil Hossain, a former joint convener of the city unit of Swechchasebak Dal who was later expelled from the organisation, is accused in multiple criminal cases.
Police said Wakil, also known as Boga or Bihari Boga, is named in more than 20 cases involving allegations of extortion, drug-related offences and assault.
