2 held with 101 kg hemp in Sirajganj

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a drive at the Western Roundabouts of ​​the Jamuna Multipurpose Bridge in Sirajganj Sadar upazila on Monday night recovered 101 kg of hemp and detained two persons in this connection.

The detainees are- Md. Shah Alam, 27, son of Hasan Ali of Jagmohanpur village in Jashore district and Md. Rashedul Islam, 41, son of the late Taj Mandal of Hudorajapur village in the same district.

Md. Usman Gani, Officer of the RAB-12 Media Cell confirmed the information on Tuesday noon through a press briefing.

The press release revealed that, an intelligence team of the RAB-12 Sadar Company conducted drive at the mentioned place and detained two drug peddlers along with 101 kg of hemp kept hiding in their covered-van.

During the drive, a cell phone, cash Tk 35,000 and the covered-van used for transportation of the illegal drugs were seized.

The press release further revealed that, RAB-12 forces have come to know through initial interrogation that, the detainees had been carried out the drug trade across the country including capital Dhaka for a long deceiving the law enforcers.

The detainees and the recovered drugs were handed over to the police of Jamuna Bridge Western police station and a case was lodged there against them under the Narcotics Control Act, 2018.

The RAB officer also claimed that, their drive will be continued with the aim to prevent drug abusing.
