A mobile court on Wednesday sealed off two warehouses in Chandaikona Baza’ar of Raiganj upazila in Sirajganj district for stockpiling about 30 MTs of government rice illegally.
During the drive, the mobile court also fined Tk 50,000 to an auto-rice mill owner for stockpiling government sacks.
Joint forces came to know that, government fair price rice has been stockpiled in two warehouses, owned by Ekram Hossain. According to the information, the joint forces in collaboration with upazila administration, Army personnel and police conducted raid at Chalpatti in Chaindaikona Baza’ar. But, sensing the matter, Ekram Hossain, owner of the warehouses, managed to flee. The joint forces however, sealed-off the two warehouses in suspect of storing government rice illegally.
On the other hand, the mobile court raided Sonali Auto Process Mills at Cattle Market area in the Baza’ar and fined Tk 50,000 to the mill owner for preserving government sacks, said Afifan Nazmu, Assistant Commissioner (Land) in Raiganj.
