The incident occurred at Mirganj Sazir Bottola on the Charghat-Bagha highway around 9:30pm, where a truck and a motorcycle collided head-on.
The deceased have been identified as Faisal Hossain, 15, son of Babar Ali, and Nasir Uddin, 20, son of Manik Hossain, both residents of Bagna village in Mominpur, Lalpur Upazila.
They were reportedly returning to their home in Lalpur on a motorcycle after completing family-related work in the Mirganj border area. When they reached Sazir Bottola in Mirganj on the Charghat-Bagha highway, their motorcycle collided with an oncoming truck.
They were thrown onto the road, and a sugarcane-laden trolley ran over them, causing critical injuries. They were rescued in an injured state and taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH), where the on-duty doctor declared them dead. After the accident, both the truck and the sugarcane-laden trolley fled the scene.
Regarding the matter, Bagha Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) of investigation Suprabhat Mondal said: “As soon as we received information about the incident, police were dispatched to the scene. However, by then, the locals had already taken the injured individuals to the hospital, where we later learned they had passed away. Legal actions will be taken if a formal complaint is filed in this regard.”
