Superstar Rajinikanth has recalled how Amitabh Bachchan worked 18 hours a day for three years to repay a debt of around Rs 90 crore after his production company, Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Limited (ABCL), suffered major financial losses.
Speaking at the audio launch of 'Vettaiyan' in 2024, Rajinikanth said Bachchan faced bankruptcy after his business venture failed, forcing him to sell his Juhu home and other properties in Mumbai.
“People in the Bombay industry again laughed seeing this,” Rajinikanth said, recalling how Bachchan continued working despite health problems and cleared all his dues within three years.
Rajinikanth also said Bachchan later bought back his old house and purchased two more houses in the same lane, praising the veteran actor for overcoming the financial crisis.
The two actors previously worked together in films including 'Andhaa Kanoon' (1983), 'Geraftaar' (1985) and 'Hum' (1991), before reuniting in 'Vettaiyan', released in 2024.
