Three men were allegedly beaten to death on suspicion of cow theft in Tularampur, Narail early Wednesday.

The incident occurred on the Narail-Dhaka-Benapole highway, confirmed Narail Sadar police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sajedul Islam.

Residents of Tularampur said cattle theft had been a recurring issue in the area.

Early Wednesday, three individuals reportedly attempted to steal cows from the house of Tarfdar Bakhtiar Hossain Hannan.

Awakened by his dog’s barking, Hannan raised an alarm. Villagers, alerted by the commotion, pursued the suspects and beat them to death.

Using a mobile phone found on one of the deceased, locals identified that two of the men were from Shibganj in Bogra district.

Sajedul said: “We are completing the legal procedures after recovering the bodies. Efforts are being made to contact their families, and we have preliminarily identified two of the deceased.”
