‎Prime Minister Tarique Rahman toured the Sundarbans by helicopter on Thursday, viewing the World Heritage Site, a vast natural source of oxygen and a rich repository of biodiversity.
‎
‎Thursday, at around 10 am, after flying over areas near Akram Point, Hiron Point and Triangle Island, the helicopter carrying the prime minister landed at the grounds of Nalian Secondary School in Dacope, Khulna.
‎
‎The Sundarbans Division confirmed the information, saying the helicopter circled above the areas near Akram Point, Hiron Point and Triangle Island before heading towards Dacope in Khulna.
‎
‎However, the helicopter did not land anywhere inside the mangrove forest, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as its noise could disturb the forest’s wildlife and natural environment, said Dr Sheikh Faridul Islam, State Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate change.
‎
‎After the aerial tour, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman landed at Nalian Secondary School in Dacope, Khulna. He then travelled by waterway from Nalian to Mongla in Bagerhat.

‎In the afternoon, the prime minister inspected the overall operations and jetties of Mongla International Seaport. He also visited the proposed BEZA Economic Zone in the Mongla area.
