A group of miscreants opened fire at Sandhani Clinic on Babukhan Road under Khulna Sadar Police Station and vandalised parts of the facility on Saturday night.

According to eyewitnesses, seven to eight people arrived on motorcycles and fired indiscriminately in front of the clinic.

They then entered the building and vandalised the reception area and the chamber of Dr Md Kutub Uddin Mollick.

The attack triggered panic among patients, staff and local residents, although no casualties were reported.

Police later visited the scene. However, neither the clinic staff nor the authorities could be reached for comment.

Speaking on Sunday, Khulna Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Lokman Hossain said two people were arrested from the area shortly after the attack.

“They are being questioned, but the motive behind the incident has not yet been confirmed,” he said.

The attack came amid two other shooting incidents in Khulna on the same day. Earlier in the morning, a man was shot and injured in Terokhada upazila.

Later in the evening, grocer Akash Kunda was shot and wounded in the city’s Tutpara area.

The incidents occurred on the day Inspector General of Police (IGP) visited Khulna on an official tour.
