Five microbus passengers sustained burn injuries after the vehicle caught fire being hit by roadside divider on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway in Naryanaganj’s Sonargaon.
The incident happened at about 10:30am on Chattogran lane in front of Meghna Bridge Toll Plaza.
The injured were sent to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, said Kanchpur Highway Police Station TI Abu Nayeem.
Eye witnesses and police said around 10am, a microbus suddenly turned turtle on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway and hit a roadside divider near Meghna Toll Plaza. Later, the vehicle caught fire. Hearing cry for help of the passengers, toll plaza authorities and locals rushed to the spot and rescued the victims breaking the window of the microbus.
