Five people were killed in two separate road accidents in Rangpur on Friday morning.
Three passengers of a three-wheeler were killed when a bus collided with it head-on in the Mahiganj area early in the day.
Two of the deceased were Shahin Alam and Ramjan Ali, while the third person’s identity remains unknown.
One passenger, Millon, was critically injured and was taken to the Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
Later, at around 8:30am, another accident occurred in Pirgacha upazila of the district when a passenger bus, which had stopped to pick up passengers, was rear-ended by another bus, killing two passengers who were waiting to board and injuring five others.
The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.
Police and fire service personnel from Barodorga highway police station arrived at the scene and rescued the injured.
Both buses were seized, but the drivers and their assistants managed to flee.
