Aggrieved garment workers clashed with police personnel and set fire to a traffic police box in the Konabari area of Gazipur Metropolis on Sunday (November 1) morning amid spreading labor unrest.

The clash erupted around 10:00AM when police attempted to disperse protesting workers who had blocked roads in the area, leading to violent confrontations between the two sides.

During the clash, excited workers vandalized the glass structure of the Konabari police traffic box before setting the facility and its interior furniture on fire.

Gazipur Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner (Traffic) SM Ashraful Alam confirmed the arson incident, stating that the box was primarily used for resting by on-duty officers and contained no high-value items.

Tension flared across Konabari, Shafipur, Mouchak, and Palli Bidyut areas as workers staged repeated demonstrations and engaged in sporadic chased-and-counter-chased incidents with law enforcement forces throughout the morning.

No casualties were immediately reported or officially confirmed by authorities following the clashes.
