 Eight more people died from dengue in the 24 hours till 8am on Sunday morning, taking the total death toll in October to 174.
 
The year’s total death toll has hit 427 with infections and deaths surging significantly since September.
 
October is now the deadliest month for dengue patients this year, followed by September with 148 deaths, and August with 43 deaths.
 
During 8am Saturday-8am Sunday, 1,929 people were hospitalised with dengue.
 
Dhaka division reported the highest hospitalisations with 831 new patients followed by Khulna division with 259 patients, Chattogram division with 257 patients, Barishal division with 229 patients, Rajshahi division with 185 patients, Mymensingh division with 92 patients, Rangpur division with 73 patients and Sylhet division with 19 patients.
 
Since 1 January, the year’s total caseload has risen to 1,36,929. Among the patients, 1,30,388 have returned home following recovery.
