The dengue situation in Khulna division is worsening, with three more deaths reported in the last 24 hours. During the same period, 302 new dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the division.
Khulna Divisional Health Director Dr Sheikh Md Mosharraf Hossain disclosed the information on Tuesday (October 6).
Of the three deaths, two occurred at hospitals in Khulna district and one at Khulna Medical College Hospital. With the latest deaths, the number of dengue fatalities in Khulna division has risen to 55 since January this year.
Of the 302 newly admitted patients, 231 were admitted to government hospitals and 71 to private hospitals.
Khulna district recorded the highest number of new admissions at 143, followed by Khulna Medical College Hospital with 44, Bagerhat 35, Jashore 18, Narail 18, Satkhira 16, Magura 10, Meherpur eight, Kushtia seven and Chuadanga three.
Since January 1, a total of 15,063 dengue patients have been reported in the division. Of them, 13,379 have recovered and returned home, while 1,263 are currently undergoing treatment at different hospitals.
