6 killed in Bagerhat, Mymensingh and Madaripur road accidents

At least five people were killed and seven others injured in two separate road accidents in Bagerhat and Mymensingh district.

Our Bagerhat Correspondent reports that, at least three people were killed and three others injured in a collision between a truck and a battery-run rickshaw-van in Rampal Upazila of Bagerhat district yesterday.

The injured were admitted to local hospitals and clinic.

The accident took place near the Chairman intersection of Jhanjhania village on the Khulna-Mongla Highway at morning, police said.

The deceased were identified as Azad Morol, 32, Sayeed Morol, 40, and Moni Mallik, whose age could not be known immediately.

Somen Das, chief of the local police station said, the Mongla-bound truck from Khulna crushed the van coming from the opposite direction towards the Bhaga area.

Of the three people on the van, one person died on the spot, while two were killed on the way to Rampal Upazila Health Complex. The bodies of the deceased were sent to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital for autopsy. A case was lodged with the respective police station in this regard.

Our Mymensingh Correspondent reports that, two auto-rickshaw passengers were killed and four others suffered injuries after the vehicle collided head-on with a bus in Mymensingh Sadar Upazila.

The incident occurred on the Mymensingh-Sherpur road in the Upazila’s Alalpur area around 11:00 am yesterday, Kotwali Model Police Station chief Main Uddin said.

The identity of the victims could not be confirmed immediately, according to the police.

A Mymensingh-bound CNG-run autorickshaw was heavily damaged after it collided with a Nalitabari-bound bus, leaving a woman and a man dead on the spot, OC Uddin said.

The locals and police personnel rescued the four injured and took them to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.

The bus was seized after the incident but its driver and assistant managed to flee, the OC added.

Our Madaripur Correspondent reports that, a driver was killed and three others were injured in a head on collision between bus and Pickup van in Madaripur district yesterday. The accident took place at around 12:00 pm on the Dhaka-Barishal highway in Mostafapur area of Sadar upazila.

The deceased was identified as Sabuj Sarker, 60, driver of the pickup. The injured were admitted to local hospitals and clinics in the town.
