At least six shops were completely gutted in a fire that broke out at Tebria Bazar in Gopalganj’s Sadar upazila early Monday.

It was learnt that the fire originated from Belayat Hossain’s market due to an electric short-circuit of the bazar around 3:00 am and the flame engulfed other shops within a moment.

On information, fire service personnel rushed to the spot and doused the blaze after one hour of attempts with the help of locals, said Mustafizur Rahman, a firefighter of Gopalganj Fire Service.

However, six shops along with all goods were completely burnt before the fire under control, he added.

Meanwhile, the cost of the fire is estimated Tk 10 lakh, the shop owners claimed.
