National Citizen Party (NCP) leader Samanta Sharmin has resigned from the party, announcing her decision in a Facebook post on Thursday (November 5).
In her post, Sharmin said she had resigned after nearly a year of ideological disagreements with the party over its political direction and departure from its founding values.
She said she had opposed the NCP's alliance with Jamaat-e-Islami, arguing that the party should not align with Jamaat on either ideological or strategic grounds. She added that she had repeatedly raised her concerns within the party but no longer believed it could remain committed to its original principles.
Sharmin said she would now make public the differences and discussions she had with the party leadership.
