Rabindra University and Shahjadpur Police Station jointly organized an awareness rally and discussion program on Tuesday (October 6) to combat eve-teasing and sexual harassment, highlighting collective measures to ensure the safety of women.
Led by Rabindra University Vice-Chancellor Professor Tahmina Akter, an awareness rally was brought out from the front of Academic Building-3 at 11:00 AM.
Sirajganj Superintendent of Police (SP) Md. Saiful Islam Santu, Rabindra University Treasurer Professor Dr. Md. Jahangir Hossain, Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration) Asaduzzaman, Shahjadpur Circle Additional SP Hafizur Rahman, Shahjadpur Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Sabrina Sharmin, and Shahjadpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Saiful Islam attended the rally. Leaders from various political parties, the acting proctor, department chairs, faculty, officers, staff, and students of the university also participated.
The rally marched along the Bogura–Nagarbari highway and concluded at the BSCIC Bus Stand.
A discussion assembly followed the rally, moderated by the university's Proctor Md. Nazrul Islam. Speakers included VC Professor Tahmina Akter, SP Md. Saiful Islam Santu, Treasurer Professor Dr. Md. Jahangir Hossain, Additional SP Asaduzzaman, UNO Sabrina Sharmin, Shahjadpur Journalists' Forum President Rajib Ahmed Russel, Pourashava BNP General Secretary Aiyub Ali, and Upazila Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Assistant Professor Mizanur Rahman, among others.
During the discussion, speakers emphasized community vigilance, swift administrative action, and unified social resistance to eradicate sexual harassment and foster a safe environment for women across the upazila.
