JAMALPUR: Four people, including a couple and their eight-month-old daughter, were killed when a truck rammed an auto-rickshaw on the Jamalpur-Dewanganj road in Burunga, Melandaha upazila, on Saturday morning.

The deceased were identified as Morshed Alam, 25, his wife Ikrama, 20, and their eight-month-old daughter Rifa, all from Islampur upazila, and Likhon, 45, son of Barkatullah, from Melandaha upazila.

The accident occurred around 10am when a Jamalpur-bound truck coming from Shimultoli hit the auto-rickshaw, killing three people on the spot and injuring two others, said ATM Mahmudul Haque, officer-in-charge of Melandaha Police Station.

The injured were initially taken to Melandaha Upazila Health Complex before being referred to Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital. However, Likhon died on the way to the hospital.
