Kamarum Munira, Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police, has been appointed as the new spokesperson for Bangladesh Police. Prior to this appointment, she served as the AIG of the Traffic Management Wing at Police Headquarters.
The information was confirmed in a press release issued by Police Headquarters on Tuesday (October 6).
Commenting on her new role, Kamarum Munira told reporters, "I aim to carry out this new responsibility with utmost professionalism."
Kamarum Munira joined the Bangladesh Police service through the 28th BCS examination. Throughout her career, she has served in field-level policing as well as several key specialized units, including the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
Following her transfer from CID to Police Headquarters, she previously served as the acting AIG of the Media and Public Relations Wing and as the AIG of Traffic Management.
Alongside her professional duties, Munira has been actively involved in organizational affairs within the BCS Police Cadre. She served as a member of the Election Commission formed to constitute the executive committee of the 28th BCS (Police) Association during its July 2025 elections.
Meanwhile, outgoing AIG (Media) AHM Shahadat Hossain has been transferred to the ICT Wing of Police Headquarters as AIG.
