Eight more people have died of dengue across the country in the past 24 hours, raising the death toll from the mosquito-borne disease to 289 this year. A total of 1,860 new patients were hospitalised with dengue during the same period, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Wednesday (October 7).
Of the latest deaths, two were reported in Dhaka South City Corporation, while Khulna and Rajshahi divisions recorded two each outside their respective city corporations. One death each was reported in Sylhet and Barishal divisions, also outside the city corporations.
Meanwhile, 247 new dengue patients were admitted to hospitals in Dhaka division outside the city corporations in the past 24 hours.
The figure was 200 in Barishal division, 216 in Chattogram, 212 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 171 in Dhaka South City Corporation, 376 in Khulna, 110 in Mymensingh, 176 in Rajshahi, 38 in Rangpur and 14 in Sylhet.
