BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has demanded of the interim government to send a letter to New Delhi for bringing fugitive Sheikh Hasina back to the country.

He made the demand while addressing a workers’ rally at Konabari Degree College ground in Gazipur city on Saturday (September 28) afternoon.

Gazipur District and Gazipur City Sramik Dal jointly organised the rally.

Mirza Fakhrul alleged that Sheikh Hasina had committed genocide and destroyed the country. She stood against the state and democracy. A letter must be sent to India to bring Sheikh Hasina back to the country and put her on trial on the basis of the charges brought against her.

“We have requested India not to allow an accused to stay there, because she had committed genocide, killed democracy, murdered the country’s people and made accused of many killings. New Delhi has not responded to our request yet. We again request India to make necerssary arrangements to send killer Hasina back to Bangladesh. We also urge the interim government to take necessary legal measures to bring Hasina back to the country,” he said.

The BNP Secretary General alleged that Awami League had killed many of their party leaders and workers when it was in power. They killed workers, students and even women.

“In order to cling to power as the prime minister, Sheikh Hasina has destroyed the state-run institutions, She threw the people of Bangladesh into a reign of terror. People of Bangladesh expressed a sigh of relief when she fled to India during the student-people uprising. Now, we can breathe peacefully and sleep at night comfortably. In the past, we felt police might raid any moment. Awami League terrortists may attack any time. We have come out of that suffocating situation.”

BNP Standing Committee Member Dr AZM Zahid Hossain addressed the rally as special guest, while BNP Chairperson’s Special Assistant Advocate Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas spoke as the principal speaker.

Besides, District BNP President Fazlul Huq Milon, Social Welfare Secretary Kamruzzaman Ratan, Assistant Labour Affairs Secretary Humayun Kabir Khan, Sramik Dal’s central president Anwar Hossain, assistant health affairs secretary Dr Rafiqul Huq Bacchu, central leader valiant freedom fighter Hasan Uddin Sarker, Dr Mazharul Alam, Mojibur Rahman and City BNP president Shawkat Hossain Sarker also addressed the rally.
