Nat’l advisory committee on film’s development reformed

A national advisory committee on film has been reformed to advise the government on the local film industry and its development. Information ministry issued a notification in this regard on Wednesday.

The committee, according to the circular, comprises 23 members from administration and film industry including information adviser as the President and Additional Secretary (Films) of Information ministry as the Member Secretary.

The members of the committee are Public Security Division secretary, industries secretary, commerce secretary, cultural affairs secretary, Law and Justice Division secretary, Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Division secretary, managing director of Bangladesh Film Development Corporation, chief executive of Film and Television Institute, director general of Film Archive, vice chairman of Censor Certification Board.

Professor of Rajshahi University Mass Communication and Journalism Department Al Mamun, filmmaker and producer Arifur Rahman, filmmaker and producer Tanim Noor, Chief Content Officer of Bongo Mushfiqur Rahman, journalist and film critic Sadia Khalid Reeti, film critic and director Ahmed Salekin are also in the committee.

Apart from this there will be one member each of FBCI, Bangladesh Film Directors’ Association, Producers and Distributors Association, Bangladesh Film Exhibitors’ Association.

The notification said, the committee will review the existing policies, laws and regulations related to films and give recommendations in this regard. The committee will also be responsible for formulating, if need be, film policies.
