A Madrasa student was allegedly slaughtered to death by his cousin due to a dispute over a mobile phone in Bogura’s Gabtali on Monday.

The incident happened around 11 am at Naruamala under the upazila.

The victim was Mobassir Hossain, 12, son of Shafiqul Islam of that area.

Local people detained the accused Nabil Hossain, 18, and handed him over to police.

Locals said Mobassir was playing with a mobile phone of his cousin Nabil. Enraged by this, Nabil slaughtered Mobassir with a sharp knife. The local people arrested him and informed the police. The police went and brought Nabil to police station.

Gabtali Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ashik Iqbal said the police are investigating to find out the real reason behind the murder. A case is being prepared in this regard.
