The decomposed body of a Madrasha student was recovered from a river in Meghulla area of Belkuchi upazila in Sirajganj district on Monday morning.

The victim was identified as Abu Bakkar Siddique, son of Shahin Abdullah of Chala village in the upazila. He was also student of a local Hafizia Madrasha.

Abdul Barik, Inspector (Investigation) of Belkuchi police station said, the victim Abu Bakkar Siddique went missing from the way to Madrasha on Friday morning, while returning from his house.

After a search, victim’s family member lodged a General Diary (GD) with Belkuchi police station in this connection on Saturday.

Being informed by locals, police rushed to the spot and recovered the floating body from a tributary of the Jamuna river nearby Meghulla village. Later, the body was sent to Sirajganj General Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Preparation to file a case in this regard was going on while filing the report.
