Popular Bangladeshi singer Mainul Ahsan Noble was briefly detained by police early Saturday (July 19) after he allegedly assaulted an Uber driver while intoxicated in the capital’s Kalyanpur area.

Confirming the matter on Sunday (July 20), Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Deputy Commissioner (Mirpur division) Maksuder Rahman told journalist that Noble was detained for questioning.

According to sources at Mirpur Model Police Station, Noble had an altercation with the driver prompting police to bring him to the station for questioning.

Witnesses claimed Noble appeared intoxicated and got into a scuffle with the driver after refusing to get out of the vehicle upon reaching the Habuler Pukurpar area. He was reportedly accompanied by a woman at the time and was allegedly using abusive language.

However, police said they did not find signs of intoxication during the questioning.

Noble was released after being interrogated for about an hour.
