An anti-drug committee has been formed for Mirpur area in Sirajganj town.
On the occasion, a meeting was organized at the Eidgaon field of Mirpur in the town with the initiative of local Panchayat Committee.
Abul Hossain Tapos presided over the programme, while Mokhlesur Rahman, Officer in Charge of Sirajganj Sadar PS attended there as chief guest.
The OC said, “Drugs hit the root of society. It is pushing the young generation on the path of destruction. Our united efforts can root out the drugs from the society. Not only police, it is responsibility of each family, society as well as citizen of the country.”
Muraduzzaman Murad, General Secretary of Jubo Dal’s district unit was also present there as special guest.
Murad said, “There is no alternative of awareness against drugs. We should work against drugs and drug addicted people to curb spread of drugs.”
Mirpur Gram Panchayat Committee members Abdur Rahman, Professor Abdus Samad, Hafizur Rahman Khan, Nasir Uddin, Golzar Hossain Master and Md. Ratan Sheikh also spoke at the meeting.
After the discussion, two 40-member teams were formed to further strengthen the activities of the anti-drug committee.
Md. Zahurul Islam and Akbar Hossain were given responsibility as team leaders.
