BNP Standing Committee member and former state minister for power Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku said that, Jama’at Islami Bangladesh is involved with conspiracy over the upcoming national polls. In one side, the party carrying various movements and campaign activities demanding PR, in the same time, it is creating confusion among the voters by providing nominations to the candidatures for 300 seats.

He came up with the remarks, while addressing as chief guest in a view exchange meeting with the Chhatra Dal, Jubo Dal and Sechcha Sebok Dal leaders and activists at the Bhasani Auditorium in Sirajganj town on Sunday.

Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku stated that Jamaat had opposed the country’s independence. In response to the call of BNP founder Shaheed Ziaur Rahman, the people waged the Liberation War and achieved the nation’s freedom. The soldiers of Zia would never tolerate any disrespect toward that war. This is why, this time the battle will be between the BNP and those opposing of the freedom fighters.

He further added that, Jamaat has never had a significant presence, noting that the party has never received more than 10 percent of the votes. As the Awami League is not a factor this time, he claimed, Jamaat now believes it can compete with the BNP. But, their dream will not be fulfilled anyway because of people of the country love BNP.

Local BNP and its wing organizations’ leaders were also present in the meeting.
