Dhaka: The Ministry of Youth and Sports has formed an investigation committee to probe the alleged question paper leak in the Department of Youth Development’s recruitment examination. The committee has been instructed to submit its report within the next three working days.
The additional secretary of the Administration Wing of the ministry has been appointed convener of the committee.
Other members include the ministry’s joint secretary of Finance and Performance Management Wing, a representative of the Ministry of Public Administration at the rank of joint secretary, and the director of Seed Financing at the Department of Youth Development.
The deputy secretary of the Administration Wing of the ministry will serve as the committee’s member secretary.
The recruitment exam for the post of Assistant Upazila Youth Development Officer (Grade-11) was scheduled to be held at 11am on Saturday. The authorities had prepared to conduct the examination around 100 centres in Dhaka.
However, on Friday night, a post circulated on Facebook alleged that an official responsible for the department’s recruitment examination committee was involved in leaking the question paper.
Later the recruitment examination has been cancelled.
The Facebook post further claimed that the official, with the assistance of a relative, had reached agreements with candidates at an average of around Tk25 lakh per person in exchange for supplying the question paper.
Following the allegations, the Department of Youth Development decided on Saturday morning to suspend the recruitment examination until further notice.
In protest, the demonstrators blocked several major roads in the capital. The blockades halted traffic on the roads, causing severe inconvenience to commuters.
