Popular singer Rumana Morshed Kanak Chapa, a three-time National Film Award winner, has an impressive career featuring more than 3,500 film songs and over 40 solo albums.
Recalling her busiest days in the music industry, Kanak Chapa recently revealed that she once recorded five songs at five different studios on the same day. She said such hectic schedules occurred five to seven times throughout her career.
The singer recently appeared as a guest on “Behind the Fame with RRK”, one of the popular podcasts hosted by Rumman Rashid Khan, where she shared several untold stories and memorable experiences from her musical journey.
Late actor Salman Shah performed playback singing only twice in films, and Kanak Chapa was his co-singer on both occasions.
Recalling the experience, she said they sang under the musical direction of the late Ahmed Imtiaz Bulbul. She also remembered Salman Shah visiting the studio and singing like a professional artiste with remarkable ease.
Kanak Chapa recorded many songs for films alongside another legendary singer, the late Andrew Kishore.
Paying tribute to her beloved colleague, she urged the people of Rajshahi to name a stadium after Andrew Kishore to preserve the memory and legacy of the celebrated singer.
"Behind the Fame with RRK" will be broadcast today at 9:00pm simultaneously on Maasranga Television and Radio 93.6 FM.
