In a bid to maintain operational dynamism, discipline, and organizational continuity, the Executive Committee of the Bandar Thana Press Club in Narayanganj has announched Abu Sayeed Mia—editor of the daily Ajker Biplobi Bangladesh—as its Acting President.
The decision was taken during the executive committee's first monthly meeting for the 2026–2028 tenure, held at 5:00 PM on Thursday (October 8) at the club’s temporary office in K.K. Tower, Bandar Bazar.
Chaired by Abu Sayeed Mia and moderated by Organizing Secretary Monjur Ahmed Munna, the meeting featured speeches by former President Sabbir Ahmed Sentu, General Secretary Mainuddin Ahmed, proposed Advisors Shahnaz Zaman and Nurul Islam, Finance Secretary Sojib Khan, Publicity and Publication Secretary Sajid Hossain Kibria, Social Welfare Secretary Mahmudul Hasan Sirat, Sports and Cultural Secretary Bimal Chandra Ghosh, and general member Najmul Hasan, among others. Key discussions focused on the press club's future action plans and organizational affairs.
During the meeting, the executive committee unanimously decided to remove recently elected President Haji Muhsin Dewan from his post and revoke his permanent membership for violating organizational rules. The decision was prompted by allegations of him orchestrating campaigns on Facebook that damaged the press club's reputation.
Following the dismissal, the vacancy in the presidency was filled in accordance with the club's constitution, leading to the unanimous approval of Senior Vice President Abu Sayeed Mia as Acting President.
The Executive Committee expressed confidence that under Mia's leadership, the organizational activities of the Bandar Thana Press Club will become more dynamic, disciplined, and effective, trusting that he will carry out his duties with a high sense of responsibility in the best interest of the institution.
