The death toll from dengue this year crossed the 300-mark on Sunday with four new fatalities recorded over the 24 hours till 8am in the morning.
Total deaths have hit 303 so far this year, according to an update released by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
September and October have recorded the bulk of the fatalities, with September seeing 148 deaths and October registering 58 deaths in only 11 days.
Infections this year have neared one lakh. In the 24 hours till 8am on Sunday, 2,193 patients were infected, taking the year’s total caseload to 99,275.
Over the 24-hour period, 1,796 were discharged from hospitals following recovery, taking the year’s total recovery tally to 92,803.
Among the new deaths till 8am Sunday, two were recorded in Khulna division and one each in Chattogram and Rajshahi divisions.
Furthermore, among the new infections, 236 are in Barishal Division, 293 in Chattogram Division, 530 outside the city corporations in Dhaka Division, 250 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 250 in Dhaka South City Corporation, 304 in Khulna Division, 70 in Mymensingh Division, 160 in Rajshahi Division, 84 in Rangpur Division, and 16 in Sylhet Division.
