All scheduled banks across Bangladesh will remain closed for three consecutive days from October 20 to 22 on the occasion of Durga Puja, according to a circular issued by Bangladesh Bank on Sunday (October 11).

The central bank issued the circular following a notification from the Ministry of Public Administration on October 7.

The holiday will fall on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Banks will operate as usual on Saturday (October 17), before the three-day closure.

However, bank branches and booths located in seaports, land ports and airports will maintain limited import-export-related services from October 20 to 24, covering the public holidays and the weekly holidays on Friday and Saturday (October 23–24).

Bangladesh Bank has instructed the banks concerned to coordinate with local administrations and port and customs authorities to ensure the necessary arrangements for these services.

The directive was issued under Section 45 of the Bank Company Act, 1991, in the public interest.
