The former Bangladesh Air Force flight lieutenant’s body was recovered from the Turag River
The inquest report on the body of former Bangladesh Air Force flight lieutenant Tahsif Souri found no external injury marks, although blood was seen coming from his nose.
Sub-Inspector Mostafizur Rahman of the Tongi River Police Outpost, who prepared the report, also noted that Tahsif’s eyes and mouth were closed and his abdomen appeared swollen.
Tahsif's body was recovered from Turag River, beside Rajabari ferry terminal, around 5:45pm yesterday.
The report described the deceased as approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall, with black hair and a short black beard and moustache. His arms were bent towards his head, while both hands were clenched into fists.
The report said his chest, abdomen, back, both legs and genital area appeared normal, with no external injury marks found on his body.
He was wearing a black, full-sleeved kabli shirt and white trousers when his body was recovered.
An initial report by the river police said a wristwatch was found on his wrist and an iPhone in his pocket. Police used the phone to establish his identity.
The body was later sent to the Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College morgue for an autopsy.
An inquest report is prepared in cases of unnatural death to document the external condition of a body at the scene or location where it is found.
