Mohammad Mashiur Rahman, Executive Director (Secretary) of the Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority (DTCA), has been stripped of his duties and reassigned to the Ministry of Public Administration following a controversial remark comparing Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s slogan—”Will work, build the country, Bangladesh first”—to a “Hadith”.
The Ministry of Public Administration issued a gazette notification regarding the matter on Tuesday night. According to the notification, Mohammad Mashiur Rahman, who was serving as the Executive Director of the DTCA on a contractual appointment, has been attached to the Ministry of Public Administration.
However, the official notification did not explicitly specify the reason behind his removal from the position.
On November 1, while addressing an inaugural event for trial bus operations across six routes under the “One Route, One Company” initiative in Dhaka, Mohammad Mashiur Rahman made the remarks comparing the Prime Minister’s slogan to a Hadith, which subsequently sparked widespread discussion.
