Police received information about the bodies in the hills between Nayapara and Leda Rohingya camps on Friday afternoon.
Cox’s Bazar Superintendent of Police ANM Sajedur Rahman confirmed the matter, saying they had received reports of three bodies in the hills.
Joint forces operations in the area are continuing following the killing of an army soldier during a gunfight with an armed human trafficking syndicate.
“Efforts are underway to recover the bodies, while operations by law enforcement agencies are continuing in the area,” he said.
On Thursday afternoon, a gunfight broke out during a joint forces raid on an armed human trafficking syndicate’s hideout in the hills. Army soldier Titas Sheikh, 27, was killed after being shot by members of the syndicate.
During the operation, the joint forces rescued 56 people and detained six suspected members of the trafficking syndicate.
The rescued individuals were handed over to Teknaf Model Police Station on Friday morning.
Expressing deep sorrow over the soldier’s death, the police superintendent said: “We are deeply saddened and shocked by the death of an army soldier who was shot by armed human traffickers while performing his duties.”
He stressed that eliminating such criminal activities required collective efforts from law enforcement agencies and local residents.
