Senior Dhallywood actress Rina Khan has criticised actress Pori Moni over her recent conduct at a court premises, describing it as embarrassing and disgraceful for the entire film fraternity.

Pori Moni appeared before a court last Thursday (November 5) in connection with an assault case filed by businessman Nasir Uddin Mahmud. During her appearance, she accused a journalist of inappropriate touching and allegedly hurled abuses and threats at him, triggering a commotion and tension on the court premises. The incident subsequently sparked widespread discussion across the country.

Following the incident, Pori Moni faced criticism from various quarters, including social media. Rina Khan has now joined those expressing concern over the actress's behaviour.

"People may sometimes use abusive language in anger, but that is not appropriate. We become known through the media. Our reputation is also built through the media, and our disrepute can spread through it as well. So, we should never say or do anything that could bring disgrace upon the entire community of artistes," Rina Khan said.

Describing the incident as a stain on the entire film fraternity, she added, "Why should I use offensive language in front of thousands of people? This is not just a matter concerning an individual artiste; it brings disgrace upon the entire artistic community. This was not right. I saw the news yesterday."

Rina Khan said she was speaking on behalf of artistes in general, adding that anyone with grievances against another person could express them privately rather than resorting to abusive behaviour in public.

"If you have any resentment towards someone, you can call that person aside and discuss the matter privately. But behaving like this in public is not acceptable," she said.
