Inflation up slightly to 8.34% in Sept

Bangladesh’s inflationary pressure edged higher in September, with the general inflation rate rising to 8.34% from 8.26% in August, according to data from the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS).
The latest figure represents a 0.08 percentage-point increase from the previous month.
Food inflation also increased in September, reaching 7.22%, up from 7.02% in August. The rate rose by 0.20 percentage points during the month.
Despite the monthly increase, food inflation remained lower than a year earlier. It stood at 7.64% in September 2025, which was 0.42 percentage points higher than the rate recorded in September this year.
Meanwhile, non-food inflation eased marginally to 9.30% in September from 9.32% in August, marking a 0.02 percentage-point decline.
However, non-food inflation remained higher than the level recorded a year earlier. It was 8.98% in September 2025.
