Central BNP has announced the names of its nominated candidates for five constituencies in Sirajganj district for the upcoming 13th parliamentary elections.
Party Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir officially announced the nomination list at a meeting organized at the political office of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia on Sunday (November 3) afternoon.
Party sources said that, the names of candidates have been announced for five out of the six parliamentary constituencies in Sirajganj district. The decision on one constituency is yet to be finalized.
Those, who have preliminarily got BNP tickets for five seats in Sirajganj are: Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku for Sirajganj-2 constituency, VP Aynul Haque for Sirajganj-3 constituency, M Akbar Ali for Sirajganj-4 constituency, Amirul Islam Khan Alim for Sirajganj-5 constituency and Dr. MA Muhith for Sirajganj-6 constituency. No one has been nominated yet for Sirajganj-1 constituency.
Party sources also informed that, decisions will be made soon on the remaining seats based on the opinions of local leaders and activists and discussions of the Central Nomination Board. The seats of the partner parties have not yet been finalized and the names of many more party members may come for the vacant seats at the last minute.
It is to be noted that, BNP is already going to announce the names of candidates step by step in different districts of the country. In the absence of party chairperson Khaleda Zia, this list is being finalized with the approval of Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.
