A total of 10 franchises have expressed their interest in owning teams in the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) season.
According to BCB sources, four of the old franchises want to retain their teams. However, the most successful team of the last season, Fortune Barisal, will not participate this time.
Among the old franchises, Bashundhara Group’s Rangpur Riders has submitted a bid to participate in the upcoming December season. Mind Tree, which is with Khulna Tigers, has also expressed interest in participating in this year’s BPL. Harlen Group’s Dhaka Capitals has also submitted a bid.
Last season’s controversial franchise SQ Sports has now submitted a bid to take a team from Chattogram under the name Chattogram Kings. Triangle Service company from Chattogram has also bid to take a team.
Among the new franchises, two companies from Rajshahi have shown interest in taking teams. Among them, Nabil Group and Desh Travels want to bring a team called Rajshahi Kings. Although Fortune Barisal does not have a team, Akashbari Holidays from Barisal has expressed interest in taking the team.
Jaglu and Cricket with Sami want to bring a team called Sylhet Strikers, SS Group wants to bring a team called Cumilla Fighters from Cumilla. In addition, an organization called Bangla Mark from Noakhali has expressed interest in taking a team in the BPL.
