12-member taskforce formed to reframe development strategies

The government has established a 12-member taskforce aimed at reshaping development strategies to ensure equitable and sustainable growth.

Titled the “Re-strategising the Economy and Mobilising Resources for Equitable and Sustainable Development,” the taskforce will be chaired by Dr. KAS Murshid, former director general of the Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies, according to a circular issued by the Planning Division on 10 September.

The primary objective of the taskforce is to develop strategies that address inequality and promote sustainable growth. The group is expected to submit an initial report within the next three months, laying the groundwork for a more just and dynamic economy.

Key members of the taskforce include: former World Bank official Akhtar Mahmood, Dhaka University Economics Professor Dr. Selim Raihan, former Commonwealth Secretariat Research Head Dr. Abdur Razzak, Yale University Economics Professor Dr. Mushfiq Mobarak, BUET Professor Dr. Shamsul Haque, Dhaka University Economics Professor Dr. Rumana Huque, former MCCI President Nasim Manzoor, BIDS Research Director Dr. Monzur Hossain, CPD Executive Director Dr. Fahmida Khatun, BDjobs CEO AKM Fahim Mashrur, and General Economics Division Member Secretary Dr. Md Kawser Ahmed.
