Dengue claimed 12 more lives in the 24 hours till Sunday morning, marking the highest single-day death toll this year, according an update released by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Over the same period, 740 others were hospitalized with the mosquito-borne disease, DGHS said.

Between 8am on Saturday and 8am on Sunday, Barishal Division, excluding city corporation areas, saw the highest hospitalisation with 165 new patients, followed by Dhaka Division (excluding city corporation areas) with 147 new patients, Dhaka North City Corporation with 122 new patients and Dhaka South City Corporation with 115 new patients.
