Bangladesh has a total of 1,294 rivers, according to a recently published draft list of rivers in Bangladesh by the Ministry of Water Resources.
The information was shared in a press release from the ministry.
The ministry stated that the draft list, compiled using information received from divisional commissioners, includes the names of rivers, divisions, districts, upazilas, sources, endpoints, lengths, and local names.
To determine the number of rivers in Bangladesh, the lists obtained from all divisional commissioners have been reverified and updated.
The updated draft list of rivers has been published on the ministry’s website, according to the press release.
Additionally, the statement mentioned that if there are any additions, omissions, or corrections to the draft list, relevant opinions and information (if available) should be submitted via email or postal mail to the Monitoring and Implementation-1 Section, Development Wing, Ministry of Water Resources, Bangladesh Secretariat, by Monday.
