Police in a raid on Saturday night arrested two persons from Beltail Baza’ar area in Shahzadpur upazila of Sirajganj district, while they were transporting TCB rice for selling in the black market deceiving the law enforcers.
The arrested are truck driver Abdur Rahman, son of Saju Sarker of Hatkhola village in Kamarkhanda upazila of the district and helper Shipon Sikder, son of Abdul Sikder of Alokdia Pashchimpara village in the same upazila.
The arrested were sent to Jail on Sunday after police produced them before a court in Sirajganj.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of Shahzadpur thana police conducted drive at the mentioned place and arrested the duo, while they were transporting 3,458 kg of TCB rice loaded with a truck with the aim to sell in the black market.
After the arrest, the carriers claimed that, they collected the rice from one Bachchu Mian of Hatpanchil village in the same upazila, said Aslam Ali, Officer in Charge of Shahzadpur PS.
Police also seized the rice and trucks during the drive.
