Police on Tuesday arrested two persons along with 110 pounds of banned Indian yarn from Kezir morh area in Enayetpur of Sirajganj district.
Sources said, Locals seized two rickshaw vans loaded with the banned yarn and handed those over to the Enayetpur thana police.
The arrested van drivers are Hasan Ali, 35, son of Raham Ali of Mukundganti village, and Shaheb Ali, 33, son of Abdul Hakim of Chala village in the Belkuchi upazila.
Enayetpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rawshan Yazdani said that, the recovered yarn was brought to the country from India taking duty-free facilities for use in garment factories. But, those were being sold secretly in the handloom factories at different places in and outside of the Belkuchi upazila deceiving the eyes of law enforcers.
