Police have recovered the bodies of two people from the Fuljor river in Raiganj and Ullapara upazila of Sirajganj district. The two bodies were recovered from separate locations on Wednesday (November 12) morning.

One of the deceased has been identified as Abdul Latif, 45, a cattle trader and also son of Aminul Islam of Charfaridpur village in Raiganj upazila. The identity of the other could not be known immeditely.

Salonga Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Monojit Kumar Nandi said, “Abdul Latif was involved in the cattle trading for a long time. He went missing last Sunday night. Family members searched extensively but could not find him. On Wednesday morning, locals found the body floating in the Fuljor river near their house and informed the police station.

Later police recovered the body from the river with his hands and feet tied. It is believed that he was killed and then thrown into the river. However, the reason behind the murder is yet to known.’

Inspector Monojit Kumar Nandi also said, ‘After recovering the body of the deceased, it has been sent to the Sirajganj Shaheed M. Mansur Ali Medical College and Hospital morgue for autopsy.’

On the other hand, Ekramul Hossain, OC of Ullapara Police Station said, ‘Locals found a body floating in the Fuljor River under the Chakidah Bridge on the Sirajganj-Pabna Highway in Ullapara Upazila on Wednesday at around 10:00 am.

On information, police reached to the spot and recovered the body. ‘The deceased aged about 38 was wearing a blue lungi and an orange jacket. It is being suspected that he was killed sometime on Tuesday night and his body was thrown into the river’, the OC added.
