A Correspondent, Gazipur:

Two teenage boys drowned in the Brahmaputra river at Kapasia upazila in Gazipur district on Friday.

The incident happened around 12:00 noon near Sonmonia bridge area in the upazila.

The deceased were identified as Fahad Hossain, 17, son of Altaf Hossain, and Tarikul Islam, 18, son of Mofiz Uddin,  residents of Sonmonia village under Sonmonia union in the upazila.

It was learnt that eight friends, including Fahad and Tarikul, went to bath in the Brahmaputra river. At one point, fahad and Tarikul drowned while they were swimming in the river.

Later, at around 6:00 pm, divers from Kapasia and Tongi Fire Service and Civil Defense recovered their bodies after six hours of attempts.

On information, police recovered the bodies and handed those to their family members without autopsy, said Abu Bakr Miah, officer-in-charge of Kapasia Police Station.

An unnatural death case has been filed in this regard, he added.
