Three people, including two children, were killed as a nasimon (human hauler) rammed into a battery-run auto-rickshaw in Tarash upazila of Sirajganj on Thursday.

The incident happened around 10:00 am at Ulipur Bridge area under Tarash municipality, said Tarash Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Ziaur Rahman.

The deceased were identified as Md Jani, 12, and his nine-month-old sister Tuba, from Dakshinpara area of the municipality; and the auto-rickshaw driver, Md Haipot Ali, 45, from Kohit village of the upazila.

The OC said five people were injured when the nasimon crashed into the auto-rickshaw. Three of them died while being taken to Tarash Upazila Health Complex, while the remaining two are currently undergoing treatment at the facility.

The nasimon has been seized. However, its driver fled the spot immediately, added the OC.
