A Correspondent, Thakurgaon:

Two minors drowned in a pond at Chhota Lahiri village under Charol union in Baliadangi upazila of Thakurgaon on Friday (July 4) morning.

The deceased were identified as Siam Hossain, 6, son of Dabirul Islam, and Sohan Ali, 7, son of Shafiul Islam. Both were residents of the same area and cousins.

Baliadangi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shawkat Ali Sarkar confirmed the matter.

According to locals, Siam and Sohan were students at a local madrasah. As the madrasah was closed on Friday, they stayed home and went out to play near a pond in the morning. At one stage, they accidentally fell into the water and drowned.

Family members later found the bodies and brought them home. On information, a police team visited the spot, said Shawkat Ali Sarkar.
