Two friends drowned as a boat capsized in flood water at Potazia Charmatha area in Shahzadpur upazila of Sirajganj district on Saturday noon.

Another person was also admitted to upazila health complex in a critical condition after recovering from the water-body.

The deceased were identified as Sajal Ahmed, 18, son of Shah Alam and Tonmoy Hossain, 20, son of Towhid, both of Dariapur village in Shahzadpur municipality.

Md. Kamruzzaman, Additional Superintendent of Police (Addl. SP) of Shahzadpur Circle confirmed the matter to The Daily Sky Correspondent.

Locals said, the incident took place at about 12:25pm, as nine friends hiring a boat started journey for Reshombari from Jadurjhola area. The boat drowned into the flood water, while it’s reached near to Potazia Charmatha area.

Seven of the friends managed to swim ashore immediately, while two went missing. After a search, locals recovered the bodies of the two friends. However, they were taken to Potazia Health Complex, where the on duty doctors formally declared them dead.
